ABOUT DNHL/RECREATIONAL TEAMS
NCYH Junior Eagles offers a recreational hockey program for those that enjoy hockey but are relatively new to the game or have other interests outside of hockey that simply do not allow them to play competitive hockey. If your son or daughter is not comfortable on their skates, it is suggested you sign them up for Learn to Skate classes prior to the season. Having your child learn to skate prior to joining a team will make their experience more enjoyable. All of our rec teams play in and are governed by the rules of the Denver North Hockey League (DNHL). We field teams at every age from Squirt (under 10) to Midget (under 18). NCYH fields as many teams as there are players for. If we have more than one team at any age group we will draft the teams equally so there is not one "super" team. This is a DNHL rule that every other association also has to follow. Recreational teams will have one half ice practice a week as well as one game. For the most part the league scheduler schedules two games against every team which will mean that you can expect a little travel. Other associations that are a part of the DNHL and families can expect to travel to are: Greeley, Westminster (Hyland Hills), Arvada, Boulder (YMCA) and Summit County (Breckenridge).
